SOLWODI: Counselling Center for Women from outside Germany
SOLWODI (SOLidarity with WOmen In DIstress) was founded in Kenya by sister Lea Ackermann back in 1985 to help poverty stricken women who were forced to work as prostitutes. Today SOLWODI Kenya is still helping women and their children to escape prostitution and find new perspectives. In 1988 Sister Lea then founded SOLWODI Germany, a counselling and contact point for women and girls from abroad who have run into difficulties in Germany.
